The world of sports is constantly active with one season right after another. Sports are also always developing, looking for ways to charge games with new energy.
Bubble Soccer
The world’s most popular sport, soccer, is no exception. What else can explain the addition of putting players in large inflated balls? If that sounds like a joke, it certainly started that way. The game first appeared on a Norwegian sports comedy show in 2011. However, it exploded in popularity after a YouTube video from Italy was posted last year.
The game explains itself – players play soccer in giant “bubbles,” which cover players head to thighs. The bubbles’ size and 14-kilogram weight make moving rather awkward and watching rather entertaining. The bubbles greatly decrease injury and greatly increase sweat. The sport’s crazy charm has won over the world with official leagues around the globe. ESPN has even shown interest in airing the US championship “Bubble Bowl” in Las Vegas this year! |
